Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple

For many Indian visitors, this temple is a moving link with the families who travelled from India to Fiji more than a century ago. Built in the South Indian Dravidian style by craftsmen brought from India, with a colourful gopuram, carved deities and painted ceilings, it is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is the best-known Hindu temple in Fiji.

Visitors are welcome outside the main prayer times. Remove your shoes at the entrance, cover shoulders and knees, and ask before taking photographs inside. The temple stands at the southern end of Nadi's main street, a short walk from the shops and the market.

It fits easily into a half-day Nadi tour with the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and the Sabeto mud pools, and the town centre has plenty of Indian restaurants for lunch afterwards.
