Fiji

Coral islands, calm lagoons and a warm bula welcome

Overview

Why visit Fiji?

Fiji is the most relaxed of our island holidays. Most visitors land at Nadi on the main island, Viti Levu, stay on Denarau or along the Coral Coast, then take boats out to the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands for white-sand beaches, snorkelling straight off the shore and lagoon-front villas.

It suits honeymooners looking for quiet beaches and overwater or beachfront bures, and families who want gentle seas and resorts with kids' clubs. A large Indo-Fijian community means Fiji Hindi is widely spoken, Hindu temples are part of the landscape and vegetarian Indian food is easy to find around Nadi. Fijians greet visitors with a cheerful bula, and that warmth is much of the appeal.

There are no direct flights from India, so we usually route you via Singapore or Australia, and often combine Fiji with a few days in Sydney or Auckland. Five to seven days is ideal: a couple of nights near Nadi, then the rest on an outer island.

Planning a trip to Fiji

Do Indians need a visa for Fiji?

Indian passport holders are currently granted a visitor permit on arrival for tourism, provided they carry a return ticket, hotel bookings and a passport valid for at least six months. If you route through Australia or New Zealand, transit rules for that country apply too, and we confirm them when we book your flights.

Is Indian vegetarian food available in Fiji?

Yes. Nadi has many Indian restaurants run by Indo-Fijian families, and most resorts serve curries and can prepare vegetarian or Jain meals on request. On the small outer islands the choice is narrower, so we let the kitchen know in advance.

Which is better, the Mamanuca or the Yasawa Islands?

The Mamanucas are close to Nadi, with frequent boats, family resorts and calm water, ideal for a first visit. The Yasawas are further out and quieter, with dramatic hills and fewer people, better for honeymooners who want to switch off.

When is the cyclone season?

November to April is the wet season, with more rain and the possibility of cyclones. Holidays still run during these months, but we recommend travel insurance and a flexible day at the end of your stay.
