Coat yourself in warm volcanic mud, let it dry in the sun, then soak in natural hot pools in the Sabeto valley.
In the Sabeto valley, a short drive from Nadi, natural geothermal springs feed a series of simple outdoor mud and hot-water pools. The routine is easy: slather yourself in warm grey mud, let it dry and crack in the sun, then rinse off and soak in the hot pools.
It is messy, relaxing and great fun for groups of friends and families with older children, and staff are on hand to help with the mud. Massages are offered on site. Wear an old swimsuit, since the mud can stain light fabrics, and bring a towel and a change of clothes.
Facilities are basic, so think of it as a rustic outing rather than a spa. Most visitors combine it with the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple on a half-day tour from Nadi or Denarau.
