Granite islands and powder-white beaches
The Seychelles are an archipelago of 115 islands far out in the Indian Ocean, and the main granite islands look like nowhere else: smooth pink-grey boulders, jungle-covered peaks and beaches of fine white sand. Nature is the attraction, from giant tortoises and rare birds to forests of the coco de mer palm, which grows wild on just two of the islands.
Most trips combine three islands. Mahé, with the capital Victoria and the international airport, has mountain views and long beaches; Praslin, about an hour away by fast ferry, has the Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio; and La Digue, a short hop beyond, is explored by bicycle along sandy lanes to Anse Source d’Argent.
It is a superb choice for honeymooners and couples who love quiet beaches, and for families with older children who enjoy snorkelling and wildlife. Hotels are small and personal, and we confirm vegetarian and Jain meals with each one in advance; Victoria also has a Hindu temple and Indian restaurants.

The Seychelles are warm all year. April to May and October to November, between the trade-wind seasons, usually bring the calmest seas and the clearest water for snorkelling.
Yes, especially with children old enough to enjoy snorkelling, beaches and wildlife. Some beaches have strong currents in certain seasons, so we choose family-friendly beaches and hotels with calm water.
