Harbour lights, mountain views and Macau

Overview

Why visit Hong Kong?

Hong Kong packs a world city onto a cluster of mountainous islands. Skyscrapers line both sides of Victoria Harbour, the Star Ferry chugs between them, and minutes from the towers you can be on a forest trail, a beach or a temple terrace. It is compact, efficient and endlessly energetic, with superb shopping.

Four days covers the essentials: the Peak Tram and Victoria Peak, a harbour crossing and the evening light show, the cable car to the Big Buddha on Lantau, a day at Hong Kong Disneyland and the markets of Kowloon. Add a day or two for Macau, an hour away by ferry or across the sea bridge, where Portuguese churches and squares sit beside the glittering resorts of Cotai.

Hong Kong is ideal for families, shoppers and first-time visitors to East Asia, and an easy add-on to Singapore, Japan or China. There are plenty of Indian and vegetarian restaurants, especially in Tsim Sha Tsui, and the monastery beside the Big Buddha serves vegetarian meals. We choose hotels near the MTR so getting around stays simple.

Planning a trip to Hong Kong

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Hong Kong?

Indian nationals can visit Hong Kong without a visa for up to 14 days, but must complete an online Pre-arrival Registration before travelling. We take care of the registration with your booking.

Do we need a separate visa for Macau?

Macau has its own entry rules, separate from Hong Kong and mainland China. Indian travellers can usually visit Macau for a short stay without arranging a visa in advance, and we confirm the current rules before you travel.

Is Hong Kong good for children?

Very. Hong Kong Disneyland, the Peak Tram, the ferries and the cable car to the Big Buddha all delight children, and the city is safe, clean and easy to get around by MTR.

Will we find vegetarian food?

Yes. Tsim Sha Tsui has many Indian restaurants, Buddhist vegetarian restaurants are found across the city, and the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau serves vegetarian meals. We note your requirements with every hotel.
