Overwater villas on turquoise lagoons

Overview

Why visit Maldives?

The Maldives is a chain of coral atolls scattered across the Indian Ocean, and a holiday here is about the island rather than sightseeing. Most resorts occupy an island of their own, with white beaches, a reef for snorkelling a few steps from your room and villas on stilts over the lagoon. Days slip by between the sea, the spa and long dinners on the sand.

Choosing the right resort is everything. Some are twenty minutes by speedboat from Malé airport, others an hour away by seaplane; some have kids’ clubs and family villas, others are quiet adults-only hideaways for honeymooners. We match the resort to your style, from transfer time to the quality of its house reef, and often combine villa types: a beach villa for the family, an overwater villa for the last nights.

Short flights from India make the Maldives ideal for a four- or five-night break. Many resorts now have Indian chefs and dedicated vegetarian menus, and we arrange Jain meals and confirm them with the kitchen before you arrive.

Good to know

Planning a trip to Maldives

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for the Maldives?

No advance visa is needed. Indian travellers receive a 30-day tourist visa on arrival, provided they hold a confirmed resort booking and a return ticket. Every traveller must also complete the online IMUGA traveller declaration in the days before the flight, which we help with.

Speedboat or seaplane: which is better?

Speedboats serve resorts close to Malé and run around the clock; seaplanes reach the more distant atolls and add a spectacular flight, but they fly only in daylight. If your flight lands in the evening, a resort reachable by speedboat, or a night near the airport, avoids losing time.

Is the Maldives good for families, or only for honeymooners?

Both. Many resorts have kids’ clubs, family villas and shallow lagoons ideal for children, while others are quiet and adults-only. We match the resort to who is travelling.

Can we get vegetarian and Jain food?

Yes. Most good resorts have vegetarian menus and many have Indian chefs. We send your requirements, including Jain meals, ahead of time and confirm them with the resort before you arrive.
