Times Square

Where Broadway crosses Seventh Avenue, Times Square is lit day and night by giant digital billboards. It is the centre of New York's Theatre District, with around 40 Broadway theatres in the surrounding streets, and the place where the famous ball drops on New Year's Eve.

Come after dark, when the lights are at their brightest, and pair it with a Broadway musical; we can reserve seats for family-friendly shows. Within walking distance are the Empire State Building, the Top of the Rock observation deck at Rockefeller Center and the flagship stores of Fifth Avenue.

It is crowded at all hours, so keep bags zipped, and note that costumed characters expect a tip if you pose with them. For dinner, the stretch of Lexington Avenue known as Curry Hill is famous for its Indian vegetarian restaurants.
