Hong Kong’s skyscrapers and harbour seen from Victoria Peak at twilight, with wooded slopes in the foreground

Victoria Peak

Hong Kong’s classic viewpoint, reached by the historic Peak Tram, with the famous view over skyscrapers and Victoria Harbour.

About Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak rises 552 metres above Hong Kong Island, and the view from the top, with skyscrapers crowded along the shore, the harbour busy with ferries and the hills of Kowloon beyond, is the city’s signature sight. The Peak Tram has hauled passengers up the steep slope since 1888.

At the top, the Sky Terrace 428 offers the highest viewing platform, and the shady Lugard Road loop is a mostly flat walk of about three and a half kilometres with some of the best views on the island.

Go up in the late afternoon and stay until dark, when the city lights come on. Queues for the tram can be long in the evening, so we often arrange the return by taxi.
