About Ngong Ping 360 and the Tian Tan Buddha

The Ngong Ping 360 cable car glides for about 25 minutes over the sea and the green mountains of Lantau Island, with views back to the airport and the South China Sea. Cabins with glass floors add a thrill for those who want one.

At the top, 268 steps climb to the Tian Tan Buddha, a seated bronze figure 34 metres tall, completed in 1993. Below it, the Po Lin Monastery has ornate halls and a well-known vegetarian restaurant, and the Wisdom Path is a short walk away. Ngong Ping Village, at the top station, has shops and cafés themed on local culture.

Go early on a clear day. The cable car stops in high winds, when buses run instead. Allow half a day.
