About Temple Street Night Market

Every evening Temple Street, in the old Kowloon district of Yau Ma Tei, fills with stalls selling clothes, souvenirs, gadgets, jade and trinkets, lit by strings of bulbs beneath the high-rise flats. Its name comes from the Tin Hau temple that stands partway along the street. Open-air restaurants set out tables on the street, serving diners late into the night.

Fortune tellers and palm readers set up tables near the temple, and Cantonese opera singers sometimes perform in the open air. A short ride north, the Ladies’ Market in Mong Kok continues the shopping, with the goldfish and flower markets nearby.

Stalls open from late afternoon and are busiest after eight. Bargaining is expected; keep your belongings close in the crowds.
