Maldives Sunset Dolphin Cruise

Spinner dolphins are common in Maldivian waters, travelling in large pods and famous for leaping and twisting out of the water. Most resorts run sunset cruises on a dhoni, heading out of the lagoon to the channels where pods gather in the late afternoon. The dhoni’s open deck gives everyone a good view.

Sightings are frequent but never guaranteed; the boat keeps a respectful distance and the crew know the dolphins’ habits. Even without them, sailing back as the sky turns orange is a lovely way to end the day.

The trip takes around one and a half to two hours. Bring a light top for the breeze on the way back, and set your camera to a fast shutter speed for the jumps.
