Interlaken and Harder Kulm

Interlaken sits on a strip of flat land between two lakes, Thun and Brienz, with the snowy Jungfrau visible down the valley. It is the natural base for the Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, and compact enough to explore on foot.

Take the funicular up Harder Kulm for a view over both lakes, cruise on the turquoise water of Lake Brienz, or join a tandem paragliding flight that lands on the Höhematte meadow in the middle of town. In Lauterbrunnen, a short train ride away, waterfalls pour off the cliffs of a deep glacial valley.

Paragliding depends on the weather, so we keep it flexible. Interlaken has several Indian restaurants, which makes it an easy stay for families and vegetarians. In the evening, stroll the Höheweg promenade beside the meadow, with the Jungfrau glowing at the end of the valley.
