Discover : Chichén Itzá
Mexico combines an easy beach holiday with some of the most impressive ancient sites in the Americas. On the Yucatán Peninsula, Cancún's Hotel Zone faces the turquoise Caribbean, while day trips lead to the Maya cities of Chichén Itzá and Tulum and to cenotes, jungle sinkholes filled with clear water where you can swim.
Inland, Mexico City rewards two or three days: the pyramids of Teotihuacan, the murals of the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the colonial heart around the Zócalo. On the Pacific side, Los Cabos is a quieter choice for honeymooners, with desert scenery and whale-watching in winter.
Eight to ten days covers Cancún and Mexico City comfortably. All-inclusive resorts make dining simple for families, and vegetarian food is easy to request, since beans, rice, corn tortillas and fresh salsa are everyday staples. Spanish is the main language, but English is widely spoken in the resort areas, and many Indian travellers add Mexico to a trip to the United States.
