Santorini, Greece
A boat trip across the caldera to walk on the volcano, swim at warm springs and watch the sun set from the water.
The best way to understand Santorini is from the water. Caldera cruises sail beneath cliffs some 300 metres high to Nea Kameni, the young volcanic island in the middle of the bay, where a path climbs over black lava to the steaming crater.
The boats then anchor off Palea Kameni so you can swim to its warm, iron-rich springs, and many continue to the village of Thirassia. Catamaran cruises add swimming stops, a meal on board and sunset off Oia. Most cruises leave from the old port below Fira or the marina at Vlychada, and we arrange your transfer to the boat.
The volcano path is loose gravel with no shade, so wear trainers and a hat. Tell us about vegetarian or Jain needs in advance for cruises that include a meal.
