The Flame Towers lit red against a deep blue and orange dusk sky, seen across the bay from the Baku seafront

Baku, Azerbaijan

Flame Towers Baku

Three curved glass skyscrapers on a hill above the Caspian that turn into giant moving flames after dark, Baku’s best-known modern landmark.

About Flame Towers Baku

The three Flame Towers stand on a hill above the Old City and the bay, their shape a nod to Azerbaijan’s nickname, the Land of Fire, and to the natural gas flames that have burned on the Absheron peninsula for centuries. The towers hold a hotel, apartments and offices.

By day they are the backdrop to almost every view of Baku. After sunset, LED panels covering their facades play animated flames and the colours of the national flag, visible from all along the seafront.

The best views are from Baku Boulevard or from the terrace of Highland Park just below the towers, which you can reach by funicular from the seafront. Time your visit for dusk to watch the city lights come on.
