What to expect

Two countries in one week, without long flights in between. Singapore gives you Gardens by the Bay, the Night Safari and a full day on Sentosa; across the border, Kuala Lumpur adds the Petronas Twin Towers, the Hindu shrines at Batu Caves and a cable-car ride up to the cool air of Genting Highlands.

It makes an easy first international holiday for families and senior travellers: both cities are clean, safe and easy to get around, and Little India in each makes vegetarian and Indian food simple. We can swap the coach to Kuala Lumpur for a short flight, add Universal Studios Singapore, or extend with a few beach days in Langkawi or Penang.

Itinerary

Day by day

1
Arrive in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay
Land at Changi and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, watch the Supertrees light up at Gardens by the Bay, then walk along Marina Bay to the Merlion.

2
Singapore city tour and the Night Safari
Tour the Civic District, Chinatown, Little India and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. After dark, ride the tram through the Night Safari to see animals at their most active.

3
A day on Sentosa Island
Ride the cable car across to Sentosa and spend the day on its beaches and attractions, or at Universal Studios Singapore. Return to the city in the evening.

Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
Travel north by coach, about five to six hours including the border crossing, or take a one-hour flight. In the evening, see the Petronas Twin Towers lit up from KLCC Park.

Kuala Lumpur city tour and Batu Caves
Climb the 272 colourful steps to the Hindu temple cave at Batu Caves, beside the giant golden statue of Lord Murugan. Continue to Merdeka Square, the National Palace and a photo stop at the Petronas Twin Towers.

Day trip to Genting Highlands
Drive about an hour into the hills and ride the Awana SkyWay cable car up to Genting Highlands. Visit the Chin Swee Caves Temple, then spend the afternoon at the indoor and outdoor attractions before returning to Kuala Lumpur.

Depart from Kuala Lumpur
Free time for shopping at Bukit Bintang before your transfer to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
