About Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise

The Chao Phraya is Bangkok’s main river, and seeing it by night is one of the city’s most relaxing experiences. Dinner cruises leave from piers near the riverside hotels and sail for around two hours, past illuminated temples, the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and the modern towers along the banks.

Boats range from restored wooden rice barges for a quieter evening to larger cruisers with buffets, live music and dancing, which families and groups often prefer. We choose cruises that serve Indian vegetarian dishes, and Jain meals can sometimes be arranged with advance notice.

Ask for a table on the open deck if the weather is fine, and carry a light layer for the air-conditioned cabin. It makes a gentle first evening in Bangkok after a morning flight.
