About Chorsu Bazaar Tashkent

Chorsu Bazaar has been Tashkent’s main market for generations, and its huge domed hall is a city landmark. Under the dome, traders sit behind pyramids of dried apricots, raisins, almonds, pistachios and spices, offering tastes as you pass.

Around the main hall are lanes for fruit and vegetables, round non bread stamped with patterns, sweets, pottery and everyday goods. It is a wonderful place to watch Tashkent life, and to stock up on dried fruit and nuts to take home, a favourite with Indian visitors.

Go in the morning, when the market is busiest and the produce freshest. Carry small notes in cash, keep an eye on your bag in the crowds and expect friendly bargaining. Packed dried fruit and nuts travel well, and your guide can point you to reliable stalls.
