Serengeti National Park
Northern Tanzania
Endless golden plains where lions, cheetahs and elephants roam, and where the Great Migration moves through the year.
Discover : Serengeti National Park
Tanzania is safari on the grandest scale. The Serengeti’s endless plains host the Great Migration, the Ngorongoro Crater holds a world of wildlife inside the walls of an ancient volcano, and Tarangire’s baobab trees shade some of Africa’s largest elephant herds. Above it all rises Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain.
Most trips follow the northern safari circuit from Arusha, moving between parks by road or light aircraft, and finish with a few days on Zanzibar: white-sand beaches, turquoise water and Stone Town’s carved doors and spice markets, a town shaped by centuries of Indian Ocean trade, including with merchants from Gujarat and Kutch.
Tanzania suits honeymooners, families and anyone who wants safari and beach in one holiday. We choose lodges that serve good vegetarian food, plan the driving at a comfortable pace, and time your visit to the migration if seeing the herds is your priority. Families with younger children may prefer lodges with pools and shorter drives, which we can arrange.

Indian health rules require travellers arriving from Tanzania to carry a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, so get vaccinated at least ten days before departure. Ask your doctor about malaria precautions for the safari and Zanzibar too.
It depends on the month. From January to March the herds gather on the southern Serengeti plains to give birth; around June they move west and north; and from July to October they are in the northern Serengeti, crossing the Mara River. We choose camps that follow them.
Four or five days covers Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, and three or four nights on Zanzibar makes a relaxing finish. With less time, a shorter safari to Tarangire and Ngorongoro still gives superb game viewing.
