About Yerevan Cascade

The Cascade is a vast stairway of pale stone that climbs the hillside north of Yerevan’s centre in a series of terraces with fountains, flower beds and modern sculptures. Inside the structure, escalators and the galleries of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts let you ride up without the climb.

At the foot of the steps is a sculpture garden with works by Fernando Botero and others, and cafés spill out onto the pavements. From the upper terraces the whole city spreads out below, with Mount Ararat on the horizon on clear days.

Go in the early evening, when the heat has eased and the city comes out to stroll; the view at sunset is lovely. The Opera House and the Northern Avenue shopping street are a short walk away.
